Climate and Winter Breaks
Climate and Temperature in Southern Andalucia
This part of Andalucia has a moderate, mild Mediterranean Sea climate. That means very often a clear blue sky and a strong sun during all seasons.
The summer in Andalucia is warm and dry. The average temperature is normally above 30ºC. If you visit the coast there is often a refreshing breeze that comes from the sea. Towards the end of the afternoon your holiday home will also benefit from a nice breeze to cool you down after a hard day sun bathing. The orientation of your holiday home is to the north meaning the interior stays relatively cool which is a great benefit during the hot summer months. The terrace outside your holiday home has plenty of shade as does the surrounding land and there is also the swimming pool if you need to take a refreshing dip. Due to its rural setting the holiday home tends to stay cooler at night as the temperature falls.
Winters in Andalucia are generally mild in temperature with very little rain. If it does rain there tends to be a very heavy down pour that clears away to reveal the sun and the blue sky. The days are longer in Southern Andalucia compared to the rest of Europe because of its location and the bright sun. You can even visit the beach in December and January as the temperature can often reach 20ºC, which is the equivalent to a summer’s day in Northern Europe.
Springtime and autumn in Andalucia are the perfect times of year. Beginning in February the blossoms of the almonds start to show and the baby lambs appear on the hills. The hills and fields that surround your holiday home begin to turn to green again. The temperature is pleasant and the sun shines in the clear blue sky. It is a perfect time to sit outside and relax.
The mild climate and temperature in Andalucia makes the province of Malaga a good place to spend the long winter months. Retired people from Northern European countries can benefit from staying in Spain where the days are longer, the temperature is warmer and brighter to that of their home country.
The nights can still be cool even in Andalucia but your holiday home is equipped with gas heaters that quickly take away the chill of night. If you stay in the larger holiday home you will also have the additional benefit of a wood burner, perfect for those winter evenings.
